TEAM AND ROLE
Working within the international team of Havas Media UK in London, the role will lead the strategic thinking of our flagship accounts with particular focus in corporate and business marketing. Our client base consists mostly of challenger brands with high ambitions that require fresh and unorthodox thinking. Strategy is at the heart of our operations and is a key differentiator. Our work has achieved recognition winning various awards such as the WARC effectiveness Grand Prix.
We have big and bold ambitions for the future and we are actively investing to transform our operations and create new offerings for clients that will set us apart from the rest of the category. The role of the Strategy director is a crucial part of this plan. The successful candidate will work alongside the Executive strategy director to shape product, strategic planning and new business development.
We are looking for a visionary self-starter, with strong organization and creative thinking skills who shows a passion for making strategy future fit and highly accountable.
Our ideal candidate will have worked in a strategy role for a minimum of 5 years and will have a robust background in business marketing. They will be familiar with the latest industry research and developments in B2B advertising especially the body of work from the B2B institute.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Key client strategic leadership
You will work with clients of all levels, from junior marketers right up to CMO, set the strategic vision and agenda for role of media and wider communications channels and work with the planning teams to develop a clear roadmap to realise that vision. You will work with the client to get to grips with their real business problems (even without a well-articulated brief) and propose an interesting strategy and route forward
New business
You will be expected to work on and contribute to new business efforts. You will provide strategic leadership and clarity and drive the process from start to finish, ensuring that we deliver first class strategy and work.
Development of strategy products
You will assist in the development of new strategic products and services. We believe that strategy should be product driven than FTE and we are working on a product roadmap to produce relevant services for clients. As part of this, you will be required to work with different specialist teams across the group such as insight, data, content and digital.
Marketing Effectiveness
Accountability is a key promise to our clients and you will have a key role in driving conversation on marketing effectiveness. This means going beyond the traditional measurement frameworks and deploying suitable solutions for each client or campaign. Ranging from econometrics to brand uplifts studies you will be required to be fluent in the different methodologies and connect with specialists that will help you deliver on every project
Insight & Data
You will manage relationships with research vendors such as GWI, Statista and other vendors that are instrumental to our work. At times, you will be required to identify new services and tools that would be beneficial and build the business case for new subscriptions. This is an area of increasing interest as we are looking at new sources of insight and data to inform strategy and planning.
Strengthening the planning culture in your agency
You will contribute to the creation of a distinct ‘flavour’ for strategy and planning within your media agency and to support training initiatives, off-sites, forums and speaking engagements to establish and maintain this.
Thought leadership
Being a ‘thought leader’, both within the agency and across the industry. Taking a vocal point of view on industry issues and driving our positioning.
Awards
It is important to have good strategic work recognised and we believe in the power of industry awards. You will be expected to turn the best of our campaigns into award winning entries. Single minded stories that demonstrate a clear link between insights, activation and impact of each campaign.

Strong analytical skills – Comfortable working with data, from pivot table and excel formulas to using dashboards and effectively extract necessary information to write insightful presentations

Restlessness and a healthy degree of constructive cynicism – our industry is in constant beta test as technology and consumers evolve, strategy leads need to help identify opportunities and ways to ‘be better’.

Business-mindedness – It’s imperative that this role is a trusted business advisor for our client base and can link strategies to results.
Knowledge – Fully experienced in the world of communications planning – understanding the world in which we operate as media agency and the competitive media landscape we operate within.
