Strategist (mid-weight) London, England

ustwo
Full Time London, England 22000 - 57000 GBP ANNUAL Today
Job description

ustwo is looking for a mid-weight strategist to join our team in the London studio. We are an award winning digital product studio with over 250 people in 5 different studios across the globe (London, Malmö, New York, Lisbon and Tokyo).

This is a unique opportunity to be part of an exciting growth period at ustwo London. As we continue our expansion, a strong strategy discipline is integral to our proposition - growing businesses by imagining, launching and scaling digital products.

We work across the entire product lifecycle; from visioning and discovery, validating propositions through to launching products and services that are valuable to both users and businesses. The projects we undertake vary from highly strategic discovery work to large-scale build projects and everything in between. Our clients cover a wide range of sectors from financial services to health, and mobility to entertainment, such as The Body Coach, Google, National Grid, Aviva and many more.

What's the role?

In this role you will:

  • Join a small, established strategy team to nurture our culture, shape our toolkit and learn together
  • Sometimes be 100% focussed on a single project for several months, and at other times be supporting multiple product teams at once
  • Own strategic thinking on your projects, supported by other members of the strategy team
  • Work with business partners at ustwo to move our client relationship forward and support on account growth opportunities
  • Help us to seek out and win exciting new projects where strategy sits at the heart of the brief, with new clients and existing ones too.
  • Support marketing initiatives by bringing a strategic lens to how we tell our story and by sharing your own passion for tech, people and innovation through thought pieces

Location

We have a beautiful London studio on 154-158 Shoreditch High Street. Although we are a hybrid model we expect everyone to be in our studio on a Tuesday for our universal day. Some of the wider ustwo team also come in on Thursdays too and you are free to come in beyond that as much or as little as you like! We really find collaborating in person as a team hugely beneficial as a studio so we encourage anyone to take advantage of using our space particularly to support collaborative project work.

In your first 6 months you will…

  • Shadow members of the strategy team to see our work in action across a range of projects
  • Support our business development team and help us win new, exciting work
  • Support our marketing team writing thought leadership and sharing industry insights
  • Join a project team alongside one of our principal strategists and start work on one of our biggest accounts

Who are we looking for?

Whether at another product studio, a consultancy, a creative agency, a start-up or in-house, we are looking for someone who can:

  • Work with a cross-functional team to develop new product propositions and ventures, shaping recommendations that maximise both user and business needs
  • Collaborate with senior clients and/or stakeholders to define business goals and use findings to inform decision making for you and your team
  • Design and conduct a range of primary and secondary research activities to fit different project contexts and objectives, and apply actionable insights from qualitative and quantitative research to identify product opportunities and solutions
  • Craft and present compelling strategic narratives and inspiring product visions that include well-evidenced rationale and persuasively articulated concepts
  • Design and facilitate workshops that spark creative thinking and create alignment, in-person and remote
  • Share your curiosity about people and technology with teams and stakeholders to drive more creative, impactful products

We're especially interested in meeting people who have experienced the discovery and development of digital products and/or services first-hand, but it's not make-or-break if you're passionate about digital products and you're keen to start using your skills and experience to make them.

Salary banding: £40k-50k

We strongly believe in hiring for diversity, and we want to hire people who display strong potential. The key to your success and our success is hiring people who have a passion to constantly learn, share knowledge with others and display constant curiosity. We believe in the power of the introvert and extroverts and our Studio culture provides opportunities for colleagues of all persuasions to be heard, have ownership and clear opportunities to progress.

We have a very warm and welcoming culture. We are a very transparent company and work hard to distribute leadership across the studio. We are an equal opportunity employer and very much value diversity and inclusion. We believe diverse teams help us make better products and we actively hire for cultural growth. We seek people of all ages, genders, stories, cognitive capabilities and backgrounds.

Interested but think your experience doesn't perfectly align with this job description? That's ok. Research shows underrepresented groups in particular are less inclined to apply for jobs where they don't meet 100% of the requirements listed. We'd still love to hear from you if you feel passionate about this role! We are committed to creating an inclusive environment for our colleagues, clients, community, and the users of our products. We don't have all the answers but we're on a journey, and we are learning together.
