Your role at a glance

Would you like to take strategic ownership of key partnerships in a FTSE 100 business?

If you a highly motivated individual with extensive experience of managing strategic partnerships, then this is a rare opportunity to join our Retail Annuities Distribution team as a Strategic Partnership Director.

This is a key role role that will report directly into the Distribution director. You’ll have the responsibility for expanding our network of strategic partners in the Intermediary market, as well as cultivating and managing our key relationships with specialist partners.

This will include you developing strategies and relationships with multiple strategic partners and Specialists which will include setting objectives, achieving business targets, and developing profitable business partnerships to increase our market share.

What you'll be doing
  • Manage relationships and achieve agreed targets and KPIs to ensure we receive a growing % of business across the Strategic partners and Specialist firms. Create and deliver Strategic approach for delivery with Strategic
  • Shape and deliver Strategic calendar – ensuring engagement from wider distribution team (Key Account Managers & Telephone Account Managers)
  • Working with product technical and marketing as well as other internal stakeholders to develop and deliver presentation material which will be used at events across opportunities and delivered according to the Strategic calendar agreed and signed off by the distribution Director.
  • Develop and manage Strategic and Specialist relationships to ensure business relationships and development activities adhere to the relevant FCA guidance and regulation
  • Work closely with Distribution director and product team to ensure we distribute the right product mix to our strategic partners and Specialist panel, to ensure the right mix of competitiveness and profit are achieved.
  • Work closely with Distribution director and marketing team to maximise marketing/advertising plans by communicating effectively with internal and external teams.
  • Ensure a robust Governance framework is in place to manage the partnership(s) from a business, regulatory and risk perspective. Working closely with Legal and Compliance to ensure all marketing and service agreements and recorded and signed off in appropriate way.
  • Deliver an account management overview and process for Strategic partners and Specialists to ensure that business relationships are managed in line with Legal & General’s Customer Experience and Treating Customers Fairly policy
  • Work closely with Distribution Director to ensure an alignment across distribution team with Strategic activity, shape the Strategic partnerships calendar and gain sign off all strategic activity by submitting an annual plan to Distribution Director.
What we're looking for

To be successful in this role you will be an excellent communicator and presenter, highly organised and will have a track record of successfully leading strategic partnerships in the Retirement Income market. You’ll enjoy working in both an autonomous and collaborative working environment, which will include lots of opportunity to support the distribution team. You’ll be working with a variety of people, so you’ll benefit from having a high degree of emotional intelligence with excellent influencing and negotiation skills.

Here’s some of the experience that we’d love to see.

  • Proven experience in managing strategic partnerships, business development and/or account management (essential)
  • You’ll be a skilled presenter and networker with the ability to create content and effectively present ideas, negotiate and influence decision-makers (essential)
  • Minimum Diploma qualified in Financial Services - Level 4
  • Previous experience and knowledge in the Retirement Income market
