Department
The Directorate of Planning and Risk supports the University’s strategic planning, develops management information to support departmental and institutional decision-making, and undertakes reviews of processes across the University with a view to improving the quality and effectiveness of activities that support academic and professional support services delivery.
Working within the Directorate of Planning & Risk, the Strategic Insight & Analysis team helps the University make sense of its data, and ensures that decision-makers at every level have access to timely, insightful information that makes a real impact on the organisation.
We draw on best practice from across Higher Education and bring innovative approaches from external partners and from other sectors to deliver high-quality dashboards and insightful analysis, landing messages with impact. We engage with senior decision-makers to ensure that our data and analysis meets their needs, and supports the strategic direction of the University.
Our team has a broad base of expertise, and a strong emphasis on personal development, looking to build rounded analysts equipped with the right range of skills for a satisfying career in insight and data. Role
We are looking for curious, motivated individuals, keen to build their career as a data analyst. You will have good technical skills, be a great collaborator and keen to help the University to make sense of its data.
This role has a crucial part to play in developing and delivering robust, well-governed datasets, repositories and dashboards as the foundation for insightful, intuitive analysis. You will develop your technical, analysis and data storytelling skills, and build collaborative networks across and beyond the University. In return, you will be part of a supportive team that has a key role in helping the university deliver its vision as a University for Public Good.
Skills, Experience & Qualifications needed
- Level 3 qualification. (Qualifications at this level include A levels. Please view the full list). We also welcome applicants with equivalent non-uk qualifications or equivalent professional experience.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Experience in analysis and manipulation of large datasets, with high attention to detail
- Experience of bringing data to life, visualising and communicating analysis and insight to a range of audiences
- Open, collaborative approach, including the ability to establish positive and effective working relationships with staff at all levels and across a broad range of areas
