Job description
We are recruiting for a pig stockperson trainee to become a member of our team on a 700-sow breed to finish batch system unit, based in East Yorkshire. We are a modern pig farming enterprise that has a forward-thinking team, here for the long term. We are keen to get an individual on board who we can educate across all departments of the farm and to expand their skills in relation to their future agricultural career.
The role will involve looking after the health and welfare of the pigs on the unit, taking part in routine jobs whether it is individually or within a team. The role will cover departments of farrowing, dry sow, weaners and finishers (maintenance/repairs is an option if this is requested by the individual) and there will also be an option to be part of the various trials that we conduct within the unit as well.
Candidate Specifications:
- Does not need to have an agricultural experience
- Keen to learn and take in knowledge passed on by the rest of the team
- Dedicated to working as a team.
- Works to high standards
- Prioritises welfare of pigs and the safety of individuals on the unit.
Holidays – 29 days per year including bank holidays.
One in three weekends will be worked.
Hours subject to discussion to work between farm and individual.
Salary will be subject to experience. Yearly bonus subject to performance.
