Pig Stockperson / Farm Labourer

White Rose Farms Ltd are specialists in breeding and rearing pigs to Red Tractor standards. We are part of industry leading food producer Cranswick plc, a progressive FTSE250 Company.
Multiple opportunities have arisen at our farm site in Bedfordshire. The farm is a breed to finish operation consisting of two modern units with state-of-the-art weaner and farrowing accommodation, plus two liquid fed finishing pig sites. The roles available cover general pig stockperson duties and farm labouring. You will be self-motivated and pro-active, without the need for close management. At times, you will be working on your own, managing your own time and developing a real sense of ownership. This is a great opportunity to join our fast paced ever growing business.
Main Duties:
- Working with pigs on an indoor unit to ensure their health and welfare is in accordance with Red Tractor Assured Standards, including: feeding, moving, vaccinating, handling the pigs and artificial insemination, in addition to farrowing house duties and gilt management
- Be responsible for the cleaning of the sow / gilt yards using specialist equipment
- Support staff to ensure that the unit is kept clean and tidy at all times and presentable to visitors with regular pressure washing being essential
- Working to high standards of animal welfare
- Operating farm machinery
You will need:
- Experience with livestock or an agricultural background is essential
- A keen interest in the pig industry and animal welfare
- Ability to prioritise and complete tasks with strong attention to detail
- Self-motivated with a good work ethic
- UK driving licence
- Basic IT skills (desirable)
