How does the programme work?
Copper is integral to the production of whisky, the craft & skill in fabricating and maintaining copper stills is paramount to Diageo. To enable Diageo to maintain these goals, it is crucial to develop and ensure the skills of coppersmiths are retained within the business.
Our Coppersmith Apprenticeship is a 4 year, work based, assessed programme. While undergoing training you will transfer your knowledge to practice and become a proficient coppersmith. This is a four-year programme and you will attain an HNC through on/off job training. On completion of training, you will have the ability to undertake a wide range of fabrication, engineering and maintenance tasks. Activities based within the workshop in Alloa and on site within malt or grain distilling, central sites, bottling halls or external customers. Working in various environments must follow Risk Management Standards e.g. H&S, C&E, and Statutory Regulations.

As a Coppersmith, you will be part of a unique trade, and can become an expert at this traditional craft.
Who are we looking for?
Academically, we’re looking for three Nat 5’s – including Maths, English and one technical or science subject. Please note that we will only be able to accept applications from people who have already achieved these grades.
We would love you to have an interest in working in an engineering and craft environment.
You’ll need to be a curious, tenacious problem-solver, who’s proud of getting a great job done, and someone who shows integrity, respect for others and, above all, a passion for learning something new every day.

At this stage is important that you submit your updated CV, clearly stating your highest acquired education and your experience.
We don’t expect you to have experience in Manufacturing necessarily.
A brief description of your part time jobs, volunteering, sports, and hobbies can be a fantastic way to introduce yourself.
Right after your CV submission, you will also receive a link to an online game set. Please make sure to complete the set in a quiet environment with no distraction and stable Wi-Fi.
Following the first screening, you will then be invited to the second step.
