Role Summary:

We're looking for volunteers to assist with the logistics operation, moving and handling of predominantly furniture donations. This includes moving items in our furniture shop as well as carrying out collections and deliveries to homes within Northumberland.

Hours:

Our Furniture shop is open from 9.30am to 4.30pm Monday to Saturday, and Sunday 10am to 4pm. We would like people ideally to be able to commit to a regular shift of at least 4 hours per week.

Location:

Based from our furniture shop at Bridge End Industrial Estate, Hexham. This role will be accompanying our van driver going all over Northumberland. If you would like to see the amazing countryside from Haltwhistle to Alston, Ponteland to Stocksfield, then this is the role for you.

Who We Are Looking For:

We are looking for people from all walks of life, be it a student or young person looking to enhance their knowledge, to a person working from home and would like to socialise with others. To be able to carry out this role you will be physically able to help lift large items of furniture, including into our van and upstairs. Above all we are looking for people who enjoy meeting new people, who like to have fun and can engage with customers.

Training and Support:

You will be supported by the Driver, Shop Manager and the Retail Operations Manager.

We ask each volunteer to attend one of our induction sessions held throughout the year. This includes important information about the Hospice including our history, our values and behaviours and an overview of the services that we provide.

We will provide you with an induction including manual handling training, ongoing training and regular updates during your time with us.
