Sterile Services Technicians required – £17 p/h Early shifts: M-F 06:00-14:00
RECRUITING NOW: Enthusiastic and motivated Sterile Services Technicians needed to join a busy Decontamination unit.
*6 months experience working within a UK based Decontamination setting is essential, applicants without this experience will not be shortlisted*
The unit provides an important service decontaminating and sterilising surgical instruments for operating theatres/wards, departments and external customers. The unit is fully accredited to British, International and European Standards and works within a Quality System.
2x Technicians required, start date 01/03/23 ideally.
Ongoing contract- no end date currently.
The successful candidate will be able to work as a part of a team in a fast-paced environment which requires multi-tasking and ability to work in a flexible manner to meet the changing needs of the service. The post requires long periods of standing and repetition of tasks as well as attention to detail and the ability to follow prescribed protocols.
Duties will include:
- Working in the clean room, wash room and wrapping sets post-decontamination
- The use of automated decontamination equipment including Washer Disinfectors as part of the automated decontamination processes employed within the unit
- To work in accordance with departmental policies and procedures in line with the departments Quality Management System
- To undertake the manual cleaning of instruments as appropriate prior to automated decontamination and communication/escalation of any failures
- To ensure all processes are recorded on the electronic tracking and traceability system
- To ensure that all necessary documentation is completed in accordance with departmental protocols
- To provide effective and efficient decontamination/sterilization of re-usable medical devices for use in direct patient care across all areas of Sterile Services.
- To carry out the receipt, disassembly, cleaning, reassembly, packing and sterilization of reusable medical devices. Record all tasks into the track and trace computer system.
- Performs a range of routine and non-routine tasks of testing different types of decontamination/medical devices using chemical, electronic test indicators and visual.
- The role involves exposure to blood and body fluids.
- Planning your own workload with limited supervision.
