Job description

To provide care for elective patients undergoing a wide range of surgical procedures, these being General Surgery, Urology, ENT, OMF, Breast, Opthalmology and Orthopaedic
Currently the patient groups are a mixture of daycases, overnight stays and patients that are outlied to the ward
The ward has a capacity of 16 beds, the nursing cover is required 24/7 so the post holder will be required to support these hours of working...... that is days, nights & weekends
The successful candidate should have previous surgical nursing skill.
The post holder may also be required to co-ordinate the ward in the absence of the senior nurse so some management experience would be desirable
Both full time and part time hours would be considered for this post
We are looking for a highly motivated individuals who want to work in a busy and demanding environment. they must have excellent communication skills and enjoy being part of a team

Admission of elective surgical patients in a timely manner to ensure smooth flow to theatres
Working on the ward with in-patients facilitating discharges
Venepuncture/Cannulation/ECG's
Be aware of your role with regard to Medicines Management and relevant policies/codes

Patient centred- Patient centred - Providing a safe care pathway for the patient Respect - Respecting the patients time and reducing delays/cancellations due to lack of beds Excellence - Updating and improving the unit whilst ensuring staffing availability for the service to provide round the clock care Safety - to provide suitable environments for admitting and caring for our patients both pre & post-operatively Compassion - Staff to be able to work effectively while maximising the treatment and wellbeing of patients Wellbeing - Improving the pressure on the health and wellbeing of our staff by providing adequate staffing for the planned service. .

To provide pre and post op care for elective surgical patients.

To provide care for in-patients

Facilitate nurse led discharge

Pain and wound management

provide saafe environment by maintaining up to date core learning

Work within the Trusts core values and behaviours

Act as ward co-ordinator in absence of senior nurse
