A high-end, boutique strategy consulting firm focused on aerospace, defence, and government markets. Our team provides corporate strategy, market entry and forecasting, mergers and acquisitions (M&A) advisory, and competitive intelligence services to global corporate, private equity, and investment banking clients.
Who are we looking for?
RSAdvisors are undertaking a spring internship programme offering the opportunity for a candidate to join our UK team to gain experience in consultancy and the aerospace & defence industries. The role is ideally suited to a postgraduate student or recent graduate pursuing or having completed a programme within War Studies, Security Studies, Public Policy, International Studies or similar. Successful candidates must demonstrate:
- Interest in and enthusiasm for defence technology, its usage and application
- Understanding of the context of modern military operations
- Strong analytical skills and comfort with both complex quantitative analysis and problem solving
- Curiosity, energy, positivity and the ability to work in teams and under dynamic conditions
- Interest in the practice and process of consultancy
Preferred qualifications
- Strong research skills
- Good communication skills, both orally and in written form
- Strong acumen in writing for business and dealing face-to-face with clients
- Familiarity with the Microsoft Office suite of programmes
- Courses / modules, or interest in, Economics or Finance are considered an advantage but not required
- Additional language skills are considered an advantage but not required
We do not expect a candidate to have previous consulting experience or possess an exhaustive knowledge of current defence technology and equipment. We do expect enthusiasm for the subject and a willingness to learn. We expect the intern to be available for a total of 35 hours per week for the duration of the internship (8 weeks between March and May 2023), though we are willing to be flexible to accommodate academic requirements. This is an unsponsored position.

Interns will join a group of multi-disciplinary senior consultants with decades of experience in the sector, taking the role of research analyst on live projects in close partnership with members of RSAdvisors staff. In so doing, the intern will contribute directly to work submitted to clients and will gain first-hand experience of consultancy in practice, and the imperatives driving the aerospace & defence industries. They will work to support our global client base alongside talented peer analysts, associates, and senior staff. Interns are fully integrated members of project teams and provide direct input into deliverables and client briefings. Daily activities will include primary and secondary source research, building market and financial models, and creating client presentations / deliverables.

- Spring Interns partake in training that includes functional skills in Excel and PowerPoint, advanced research methods, consulting trade craft, and industry / sector knowledge
