Job description
We are seeking to recruit an experienced and enthusiastic Sports, Fitness and Well-Being Instructor to join our team which is based in the Therapy Services Department.
You will be responsible for the planning and provision of a varied and innovative sports/physical activity programme for the patient group at Arnold Lodge. You will be working with a team of two Sports, Fitness and Well-Being instructors and report to the Sports, Fitness & Wellbeing Co-Ordinator.
You require a Gym Instructing Level 2 qualification or equivalent. You also need GCSE Maths and England Grade C or above.
Arnold lodge is a medium secure unit which offers an inpatient service across three care pathways - Male Mental Health, Male Personality and a Women’s service.
We have excellent facilities including a multi-gym, large sports hall and all-weather pitch.
Arnold Lodge is accessible by public transport with a regular bus service running to and from Leicester city centre - Arriva Bus 58/58a.

To plan and deliver the needs led sports and fitness programme for patients alongside other team members.
To work with patients on a one-to-one basis or in groups in different settings.
To participate in sports activities alongside patients to support engagement.
To induct patients and staff in the multigym
To provide on-ward sessions and community sports to patients in a specific care pathway.
To support the facilitation of Chaplaincy sessions.
To assist in the running of the Hair and Beauty service.
To keep accurate, appropriate and contemporaneous patient records in accordance with the Forensic Information Governance Group and Trust Policy.

To motivate and encourage patients who may have barriers to engaging in sports and fitness activities
To work with patients in ICU, Long Term Segregation and seclusion
To complete assessments and reports as required
Assess and feedback patient’s response to sports and fitness interventions; completing reports as required.
Engage in regular clinical and managerial supervision.
To undertake any other duties that would be a reasonable expectation of the role e.g session cover.
