This is an exciting opportunity for a new role within the Arts, Culture and Leisure Service at Wakefield Council.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic team member to lead a busy portfolio of work. The successful candidate will drive forward capital and delivery projects, whilst also playing a key senior role to enable and support our wider network of voluntary organisations and trusted partners and working together to increase and diversify participation and wellbeing across Wakefield District.
The service is preparing and fund raising for an exciting Year of Culture in 2024, and we want to ensure that the opportunity to be active or creative is available for everyone and everywhere; we’re looking for a passionate and experienced leaders to join our journey.
What will I be doing?
Provide leadership to the Sport and Physical Activity Development service, and working collaboratively across the service, wider Council and wider partnership settings;
Provide leadership to support, sustain and develop the network of organisations who want to increase the volume and diversity of participation in sport and physical activity District wide.
Playing a key role in the consultation and engagement of the districts sport and physical activity strategic framework and whole system working;
To lead on the District’s Playing Pitch strategy (PPS), and associated governing body liaison, and work with the Service’s Transformation Manager on the implementation of the strategy, including the application and delivery of capital and revenue funded programmes with key stakeholders.
Managing Sport and Physical Activity Development resources as required, whilst consulting, commissioning and monitoring performance ;
Liaison and monitoring of the Council’s Premier Rugby Clubs investment programme, and other similar sport related programmes with professional, voluntary and trusted partners.
Work as part of a cohesive and forward-thinking management team to make a difference to the residents of Wakefield District.
