The Role
Reporting to the Director of Sport & Active Health, the Head of Delivery, will oversee the delivery function of the department including the work of the Sport Development and the Active Health teams. You will make a major contribution to planning the overall strategic direction for Sport & Active Health, with a particular focus on ensuring the delivery and operational plans for the department meet our strategic aims and supports the University’s strategic goals and priorities. A major focus of our department is engagement, community and belonging – our delivery programmes need to be innovative and adaptable to reach these aims.
The Head of Delivery will have overall responsibility for ensuring the high quality delivery of all of our Sport and Active Health programmes, services and interventions. You will promote a team culture that delivers a consistently high customer experience with a clear focus on engagement, inclusion and developing a sense of community and belonging. You will identify trends which may have an impact on the service and innovate and implement new activities to address these trends. You will oversee the development of partnerships across the University and with local, regional and national partners to enhance our delivery and our reputation.
You will promote a culture of strategic delivery planning with integrated business planning alongside other relevant areas of the Sport & Active Health team, working closely with the Head of Business Services to ensure the smooth operation of the department and where appropriate, to optimise business outcomes.
The Person
We would love to appoint someone with a passion for sport and physical activity at all levels. Someone who recognises the social, mental and physical benefits of physical activity and sport; who understands fitness, exercise, and sport provision and knows what it takes to support people on their individual journeys, from first timers through to elite sports people. Our Head of Delivery will have outstanding organisational skills and management experience. They will be a team player and a leader with the ability to get the best out of the people they work with. Above all, our Head of Delivery must be motivated by wanting to make a difference to people’s University experience through sport and physical activity and help create that sense of belonging.
