We are looking to recruit a full-time Speech and Language Therapy Assistant to join our team of Speech and Language Therapists, who is interested in gaining experience and knowledge in the area, with aspirations to become a Speech and Language Therapist. Following success with our Occupational Therapy Apprentice, we would like to support the right candidate to complete the Speech and Language Therapy Apprenticeship when providers expand.
You will:
- Have a strong drive and aspiration to become a Speech and Language Therapist, with a good standard of education to be suitable for Speech and Language Therapy Apprenticeship, which we can provide when placements expand nationally, for the right candidate.
- Have experience of working with young people in a special needs’ environment, with a knowledge of speech and language therapy and communication approaches
- Be able to deliver sessions and activities planned by our Speech and Language Therapists to individuals and small groups within class and residential settings.
- Be able to contribute to planning and preparation of resources as directed by Speech and Language Therapist
You will be involved in delivering input through use of the Prior’s Court Communication Skills Learning Programme and the Prior Approach, which focuses on the development of functional communication skills to enable our young people to live healthy, happy, independent lives after leaving Prior’s Court.
Qualifications
- Experience working with Young People in a special needs environment.
- Good standard of education: including Maths and English GCSEs at grade C/4 or above and 3 A Levels (grades BBC or above) or level 3 equivalent or BTEC or access to higher education diploma or foundation degree/level 5.

Prior's Court was set up by Founding Patron Dame Stephanie Shirley, whose vision of a centre of excellence for children with autism became reality with the opening of Prior's Court School in 1999. We have since grown to support around 90 young people with complex autism aged between 5-25 years.
Since opening, our support team has grown from around 20 to 500 and we have built a reputation as a cutting edge educational, vocational, and residential facility for young people with autism.
