Our client is the largest healthcare organisation in Wales, with responsibility for the health of nearly 700,000 people. The region also attracts some 8 million overnight visitors and 17 million day tourists each year. With a budget of approximately £1.2 billion, the Health Board employs over 16,000 people and provides acute, intermediate, mental health and community services, and also oversees primary care services to the population of North Wales. The Board also provides a number of services to the population of North Powys. As a University Health Board, they collaborate in research and development and offer joint academic posts with Bangor University and Glyndwr University respectively. The Health Board employs around 16,500 staff and has a budget of around £1.2 billion. It is responsible for the operation of three district general hospitals, as well as 22 other acute and community hospitals and a network of over 90 health centres, clinics, community health team bases and mental health units.
The successful appointee will be expected to undertake various duties, such as: will provide day to day general medical support to the care of the patients on the medical wards, most of the time working within one clinical team under the direction of a consultant physician, participate in the out of hours on-call rota to provide support to the medical wards through an on-call system on a rota basis of 1:8 full-shift pattern with prospective cover, post holder will follow developed escalation pathways as required in order to transfer patients to other units should the clinical need arise. Participation in the ambulatory Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) pathway will also be required, the appointee may be asked to provide emergency help to walk in attenders at the request of the triage nurses, provide advice to clinicians in hospital and primary care, originating either from telephone calls or ward referrals, teaching duties to undergraduate and postgraduate students within the trust & assistance with Clinical Governance and Audit duties.
