Job description

The Department of Archaeology is seeking an Outreach and Communications Coordinator to disseminate and promote the world class teaching and research in the department. The main duties include:

  • Communications work across the Department of Archaeology (including the McDonald Institute for Archaeological Research and the Cambridge Archaeological Unit);
  • Publicity and press work, including the use of social media as well as printed material and the websites;
  • Outreach work, organising open days and public outreach events, including assistance with the Cambridge Archaeological Unit's outreach programme;
  • Alumni relations.

The post holder will be based in the Department of Archaeology and hybrid working is a possibility.

Applicants should have experience in organising events including public lectures, workshops exhibitions, performances and residential visits. Excellent IT skills including experience in web-editing and use of social media platforms, experience in producing multimedia content as well as experience in presenting to a range of audiences.

A confident and effective communicator, you will have exceptional organisational and administrative skills. You will be drafting and writing reports, press releases and publicity material so a skilful command of the English language in spoken and written form is essential. Knowledge of Archaeology or Biological Anthropology would be an advantage.
