Job description
The EIIP team currently provides a service for 14 to 65 year olds experiencing a first episode of psychosis and the Specialty Doctor will be expected to provide input to all aspects of both Teams work. Much of the work will be in the community with most people who use the service being seen either at home or in community settings. Initially assessments will usually be carried out jointly with another team member and there will be a strong emphasis on multidisciplinary working. The Team holds regular meetings using a zoning model to prioritize care.
When people who use the service require admission, they will be referred to the local Home Treatment Team (HTT) who manage inpatient and home treatment services and have their own medical cover. The Specialty Doctor will be expected to liaise with these teams and provide continuity of care for people on their caseload. People who use the service that require acute inpatient assessment and treatment within the locality are typically admitted to either the inpatient wards at the Abraham Cowley Unit (ACU), Chertsey or Farnham Road Hospital Guildford.
