We have a full-time vacancy for a Paediatric Specialist Speech & Language Therapist in Barking and Dagenham at NELFT. This is an exciting opportunity to join a well-established, supportive and experienced Speech & Language Therapy Team that can develop your skills and interests. Our team is based in Barking and Dagenham and is part of Targeted Children's Services which includes Speech & Language Therapy, Community Paediatrics, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Clinical Psychology and CAMHS, amongst other key professionals. You will be responsible for assessing and carrying out direct and indirect therapy with children presenting with speech, language and communication difficulties across one or more pathways.

NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focusing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.

Probationary Period
This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).
High Cost Area Supplement – London
This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (minimum payment of £4,108 and a maximum payment of £5,177 per annum).

The main responsibilities of the post:
- To contribute to the provision of speech and language therapy clinical care pathways across Barking and Dagenham.
- To deliver comprehensive formal and informal assessment and make differential diagnosis on the basis of assessment findings.
- To develop evidence-based intervention programmes, adapt and facilitate therapy according to client centred needs.
- To provide specialist knowledge, advice, training and teaching to parents, carers, students and SLT team.
- To work closely with clients, carers, families and school staff to embed inclusive speech, language and communication practice across settings.
- To provide mentoring of colleagues and peer support.
- To contribute to multi-disciplinary team working to ensure co-ordinated service provision.
- To attend relevant training courses, meetings and special interest groups related to your specialism in order to maintain skills and knowledge required of a Speech and Language Therapist working in the field of paediatrics.
