We have an exciting opportunity for Full Time band 7 Specialist Nurse for Complex Safeguarding in the Sunderland Transformation team
We are looking for individuals who are passionate about safeguarding children and have the skills to carryout cumulative risk assessments of cases at a very high level.
This post involves visiting families as well as doing direct Child Lived Experience work with vulnerable children. The post holder will line manage and lead a team to ensure children aged 5-19 who have been discussed at strategy level have a voice and be supported.
The Specialist Nurses main role is to support the Named Nurse, the Lead Named Nurse for Safeguarding and Children in Care to fulfil HDFT responsibilities in order to protect children, staff and the public which is set out in the DOH Working Together to Safeguard Children 2018 document. The Specialist Nurse Child Protection also supports the Named Nurse to meet our quality and governance requirements for CQC and Joint Targeted area inspections.
As a Specialist Nurse for Complex Safeguarding, the post holder will have a key role in multiagency information sharing, risk assessment and decision making within multiagency strategy meetings. The post holder will work as part of the 5-19 Service and Integrated Safeguarding Team, contributing their expertise to the safeguarding case management, assessing risk factors and safeguarding issues for children, and helping identify those services which are best placed to support the children, adults and families concerned. The Specialist Nurse for Complex Safeguarding will take responsibility for the decision making around stepping out of some child protection cases and how this is communicated to partner agencies. The Specialist Safeguarding Children Strategy Nurse will provide day to day supervision and guidance to the skill mix within the team including the Band 6 Safeguarding Nurses and Band 4 Child Lived Experience Nurse.
