Specialist Clinical Coder - Band 6 + 20% RRP
We are looking for a Specialist Clinical Coder to join the clinical coding department at St. George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. You will work with a team of peers to deliver the department's vision to provide efficient and expert coding of patient records, embracing national standards of excellence, enabling the Trust to optimise income, and enriching the data we use to understand and enhance patient care.

As a Specialist Clinical Coder you will be responsible for extracting highly complex clinical information from the patients' medical record, then translating this medical terminology into a series of codes using international and national classifications.

Job Summary:
1. To provide accurate, timely and complete clinically coded data for all specialties of the Trust.
2. To assist the trainee coders, clinicians, and managers to improve knowledge of clinical coding and related topics.
3. To provide assurance of the accuracy and completeness of clinical coding.
4. To assist in the development and implementation of policy and systems to ensure a clinical coding service which meets best practice guidance.
5. To provide expert knowledge in the use of clinical coding classifications and associated systems.
