Biochemistry Senior Biomedical Scientist

The post will be based in Macclesfield Hospital but travel to Leighton Hospital may be required. This is an interesting and important job, previous experience in this field is not essential as full training is given.
The UHNM NHS Trust covers Royal Stoke Hospital in Stoke on Trent and County Hospital in Stafford. Royal Stoke a large acute teaching hospital, with a Turnover of £360 million. Located in Stoke on Trent and Stafford, UHNM is close to the M6, within commuting distance of culturally diverse major conurbations, such as Manchester and Birmingham and surrounded by rural pleasures, including the Peak District National Park.
Each year Royal Stoke cares for over 600,000 people providing emergency treatment, planned operations and medical care. It is a leading teaching hospital in partnership with Keele University and has a patient-centred clinical research facility providing state-of-the-art facilities.
- To support and deliver the technical diagnostic services within sections of the Biochemistry Department. To undertake both routine and complex analytical techniques to maintain service provision, and to ensure that current accreditation standards are adhered to throughout.
- To be an efficient and flexible member of the Biochemistry laboratory team providing a high-quality diagnostic service through scientific and technical activities commensurate with the training and education of a Specialist Biomedical Scientist registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
- To maintain competence to practice and to improve professional expertise through engagement in Continuous Professional Development (CPD).
- To work within the written Policies and Procedures of the Department especially in relation to Health and Safety and Quality.
- The post holder will be expected to be prepared to work flexibly and maintain competencies to a standard required to enable them to work, or cover during periods of unplanned leave or sickness, on the Out of Hours rota which includes participation in a shift pattern with early, late, weekend, and Bank Holiday shifts as required.
- The main base will be as above, but work may be required at any site within NMCPS
