We have an exciting opportunity to join our team at the Caledonian site at Prestwick, as a Special Process Owner / Manufacturing Engineer for Heat Treat and Welding. You would be responsible for providing technical support to the Heat Treat and Welding functions primarily, with the potential for expanding this role as experience grows.The position will be on a dayshift basis.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
- The Special Process Owner role must promote a positive culture around Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost.
- Review of OEM documents eg, Repair Documents, Incremental Changes, Temporary Revisions and Service Bulletins for adequacy of technical details regarding performance and control of special processes.
- Responsible for internal special process workstation assessments.
- Approval of all new special process equipment specifications prior to purchase.
- Approval of equipment when required - prior to initial use, after major maintenance and after being moved.
- Lead projects related to your process to improve product quality, compliance and yield of processes, from project initiation to project completion within timescale and associated budgets. Work closely with SPO team, EH&S, Maintenance, Operations and NPI Project Leader in adherence to GE Aviation Management of Change requirements.
- Responsible for coordination of proprietary repairs, including but not limited to - Initiation of workflow, sourcing of sample parts, required tooling and equipment review, co-ordination of Caledonian departments to produce any special requirements required in support of the repairs and first article review. Ensuring that Repair NPI Industrialisation meets documented requirements.
- Work with the Quality department to Resolve audit findings and quality reports through RCCA.
- Work closely with NPI Project Leader to identify and implement projects that meet the strategic needs of the business and to justify the business case through data driven evaluation.
- Liaise with internal and external Engineering teams to address shop and fleet issues
- Maintain a culture of continuous improvement and adoption of Lean principles
- Liaise with internal departments and external vendors on technical enquiries
- Participate in the sites general engineering activities and issues including existing daily shop management structures
- Contribute to the Engineering teams Monthly Operating Review process
It is intended that the scope of this role may develop as successful candidate’s knowledge and experience grows.
Qualifications / Desired Requirements:
- Candidates should be able to demonstrate significant technical experience in Heat Treat and Weld processes.
