Job description
A large school for over 300 children with Special Educational Needs is looking to recruit full-time, long term, temporary Teaching Assistants to support children with autistic spectrum condition (ASC) with complex needs and possibly challenging behaviour across the 3-19 age range. The school is split across two sites in Handsworth and Lozells, Birmingham. The successful candidates will be adaptable, flexible and resourceful individuals.
Job Description
The successful SEN Teaching Assistants will:
- Have excellent communication and written skills with high expectations of learning and behaviour
- Have some experience of supporting children in Literacy & Numeracy and working with SEND. Previous use of PECs, symbols and Makaton is desirable, but not essential
- Have a good understanding of child development and learning processes
- Demonstrate the ability to be a great team player, but also to work independently and use initiative
- Show an open minded and inquisitive approach, but the ability to work to agreed strategies and procedures
Requirements
The successful SEN Teaching Assistants must:
- Have a minimum of Level 2 or 3 in Childcare and Education or Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools or the equivalent
- Have/acquire an enhanced DBS, Overseas Police Clearances (if applicable) and have a legal right to work in this country
- Have acceptable reference checks from previous employers or educational institutions
- Short listed candidates will be subject to Teacher Regulation Agency checks & an online search as part of Ambassadors Resourcing Safer Recruitment checks
