Job description
Ibk is a community based, not-for-profit social enterprise with over 20 years’ experience of providing Direct Payment Support to families, children and adults of all ages with a range of needs. We provide a bespoke matching service, finding the right PA for the right person!
IBK is presently working with a family who are looking for a PA in the S20 area who can provide consistent support to their 32 year old daughter.
This is a unique request as the family live in Sheffield from November to April each year and the family are hoping to find that special PA who can support them during the other 6 months.
The young woman is on the autistic spectrum and requires a calm and sensitive PA who has the patience to work at her pace and build a positive relationship with her. She has a range of activities she enjoys including singing and dancing, drama, arts & crafts and keep fit.
The support would focus on supporting the young lady to access activities in the community, build on her independence and social skills and have the opportunity to do the things she enjoys with a companion she enjoys spending time with!
Essential
- Have experience of working with young people on the autistic spectrum
- Willing to learn from the young person and her family
- Be friendly, reliable, and honest; and maintain confidentiality.
- Be respectful in the family home
- Be calm, encouraging and patient.
- Have a genuine desire to enhance the young person’s life and boost their self-confidence and independence.
- Be able to commit to an unusual pattern of work
- Have an open mind and approach to support
Desirable
- Experience of working with people with communication difficulties
- Hobbies and interests you may share with the young person
A driver who has a car to use for work.
Hours - Mondays and Fridays (o Wednesdays) 10pm-4pm for 6 months per year November-April
