Porthmeor Beach Cafe has an exciting opportunity for a Sous Chef to join our team

The Cafe is located on Porthmeor Beach in St.Ives, Cornwall and has a prestigious Blue Flag as one of England's premium beaches.

The cafe itself has grown from strength to strength over the last fourteen years with an open kitchen serving quality local produce. The cafe has a relaxed and vibrant atmosphere with lots of alfresco seating, the perfect place to watch the sunset every night whether you are cooking or dining.

You will be part of a successful business and that values its employees and aims to provide a healthy working environment. You will work alongside the head chef and assist them in the day to day duties of running the kitchen along with another sous chef, creating our kitchen management team.

We change the menu regularly so that we are offering a seasonal offering and you would play an integral role in helping the head chef to devise and change the menu.

The package will include a share of a tronc (gratuity) system ( estimated 8k - 10k per annum), Two set days off a week, 28 days holiday a year and the opportunity to develop and progress within the business.

As we are on the beach we are very busy during the summer months and therefore you would be required to work between 48-55 per week from mid March to November. From November - Mid March 25 -30 hours as we do not open for evenings except from the 27th December to the 30th of December.

Responsibilities

  • Management of kitchen staff
  • Ensuring all food safety procedures are followed and updated

  • Running the kitchen in the head chefs absence
