About the role

Hours: 22.5 hours per week usually worked 3 out of 7 days to include bank holidays and weekends

Our Retail outlets provide 29% of much-needed income to the hospice. This is vital to be able to provide care to the people of Derbyshire. The hospice has 15 retail shops,1 furniture warehouse a Donation centre, 3 Clearance shops and 2 Coffee shops! We also have an online eBay/Amazon platform and an online furniture store, It’s a big operation! We are looking for a Sorting Assistant to join the team at our Donation centre in Hasland

The main responsibilities include:

The post holder will be an integral member of the Donation Centre team responsible for supporting the staff and volunteers working within our Donation Centre and Clearance Shop at Hasland. The post involves greeting members of the public who are looking to make stock donations, sorting through donated items and processing them for delivery to our retail shops. The post holder will also assist the Clearance Shop team, serving customers. This role will involve the lifting/moving of items of furniture and using a Hospice vehicle to undertake shop deliveries and community collections.

About you:

You will be an integral member of the Donation Centre, serving customers, pricing stock and replenishing the sales floor. You will ensure that the shop is safe, clean and well presented, making sure our customers have a great experience.

Skills and experience required:

  • Previous experience within a customer service focused sector
  • Can demonstrate excellent visual merchandising skills
  • Effective communication and presentation skills
  • Knowledge of cash handling/Banking protocol
