Job description
Here at Salisbury we are looking for an accredited or nearly accredited Clinical Vascular Scientist/Sonographer to join our Vascular Team. We are able to offer an extra £5000 a year recruitment and retention payment so come and see what SDH has to offer!
We are a small but friendly unit which presently consists of 4 Vascular sonographers/scientists, working with a team of Vascular Specialist Nurses, Healthcare Support Workers and administrative staff.
Our Unit is a purpose built, air conditioned, 9 roomed department which supports multidisciplinary working and one stop clinics. We have 3 main ultrasound machines within the department (1 Philips EPIQ 5G and 2 Phillips EPIQ 7G), plus two portable Phillips CX50’s for use on the wards. We carry out a wide range of vascular investigations including carotid, aorta, upper and lower limb arterial and venous assessments, graft surveillance, imaging of endovascular aneurysm repair and DVT assessments. We also support a well-established outpatient EVLT service which runs from the Vascular Unit and we have close links to the AAA screening programme for Dorset & Wiltshire, both of which represent opportunities for developing skills in other areas.
We are committed to helping staff develop within their role, with opportunities for further training and continued professional development. We encourage applications from individuals who are looking to contribute to the development of the service and our patients through research and audit.
To be considered for appointment at Band 7, Applicants should be accredited with the Society of Vascular Technology (AVS) and/or have a PG Dip in Ultrasound with HCPC registration and relevant vascular experience. We are happy to consider applicants with less experience or who are currently working towards SVT accreditation or have recently finished/nearly finished the STP training programme, but appointment in this case may be at a lower banding.
Full-time or part-time hours are available. The role will also include some weekend/bank holiday working on a rota basis.
