Lead, manage and deliver the identification, assessment and implementation of new and improved business solutions, automations and analytical services Key responsibilities:
- Lead by example and behave in line with the Police Code of Ethics ensuring that the force values and behavioural expectations are clearly understood and considered by managers, officers and staff in their decision making and actions; reinforcing and influencing them through all interactions and processes.
- Lead and participate in problem solving teams to resolve complex technical problems, providing specialist technical expertise to other sections within Digital Policing and the wider organisation where appropriate.
- Further the design and development of technological solutions in order to address business needs and opportunities.
- Provide advice, acting as Second or Third Line consultants on relevant technologies to Force change programmes in order to maximise the use of those technologies and maintain best industry practice. Understand and analyse WYP software systems to know how to best work with them and design new procedures and processes that will help maximise the efficient use of data.
- Ensure incoming technologies are cost effective and necessary for the force. Put forward alternate software ideas and reduce costs by designing in-house systems.
- Implement new solutions, coordinating police staff, officers, and leadership teams and liaison with external suppliers, where required. Checking feasibility, piloting and documenting to ensure successful testing and implementation of innovative solutions in order to ensure organisational priorities are met to improve efficiency, reduce workload and increase productivity.
- Maintain and adopt current industry knowledge of development concepts, best practices and procedures for relevant technologies and ensure this is applied to all deliverables and projects so they are completed on time and to budget.
- Manage the implementation of small technology projects, as appropriate, utilising project management techniques (i.e. Scrum, DSDM, Agile etc. Seek feedback from Districts and Departments upon implemented changes and report back to assist in the service improvement programme, assessing the enhancement to business processes.
- Be solution experts to support and train others on the use of incoming innovative technologies, so that Service transition is achieved and also to champion the value of these solutions to business users. Train Police Officers and Staff on the use of new systems and provide appropriate training materials.
- Create detailed reporting using Microsoft SQL Server technology by analysing data sources and building data models to use for analytics, highlighting key areas of demand and growth. Analyse data from a wide range of sources to build meaningful reports that automate the use of data and show trends and improve the use of resources across the force

- Related degree or equivalent or proven relevant and practical experience
- Working towards recognised certification track on one or more of the following; Microsoft Associate/Expert certification, Robotic Process Automation Academy, Agile Business Analysis (DSDM) or SCRUM
- Level 1 – Practitioner
- Detailed knowledge and technical skills and competency in development methodologies
- Detailed knowledge of the profiles of the managed Digital Policing services and their relationships
- Detailed knowledge of all systems and procedures used within the Digital Policing Directorate
- Detailed understanding of Force change programmed and able to articulate how Digital Policing programmes support these
- Awareness of current, emerging technologies capabilities/services that aid in solution delivery
- Proven experience of autonomous solution delivery using business analysis and project expertise
- Ability and capability to run relevant projects as needed, using advanced Agile Project principles
- Demonstrated ability in using a formal problem-solving methodology.
- Demonstrated ability to formulate test plans
