Location: London (We can flexible on location and can also consider candidates based in other areas of the UK)

What will I do?
You’ll Define solutions and technology stack to meet the business demand from partners, responsible for compliance with non-functional requirements, analyse enterprise specifics, set the collaboration framework, create a solution prototype & control the solution development.

We're building multi-functional teams and giving them freedom to bring technology to the forefront of our business. This will help us both enhance and create new products and services to help us really make a difference to our customers.
As our Head of Engineering, you'll lead the technical direction and develop tech strategy in collaboration with business and enterprise architects. You'll drive the core technology agenda within the platform. You'll be responsible for the technical roadmap, management of technical debt and other technical demands. You'll accountable for the engineering teams that will design, build, or integrate, deploy, and run the system, particularly software, that supports the business and operations, with a focus on resilience, low latency, reusability, accessibility by third parties and scalability.

  • Creative and innovative, with ability to think ‘creatively’ to solve problems and assess impacts in a complex and inter-dependent systems architecture
  • Ability to ‘Keep it real’ to ensure critical thinking can be translated into deliverable solutions
  • Great communication skills to promote and syndicate designs, and explain the complex in a simple and engaging manner accessible to both business and IT audiences
  • Strong negotiation and facilitation skills with the ability to listen and display emotional intelligence when navigating conflicting views.
  • Ability to show sound analytical capabilities and judgement when evaluating and identifying options considering requirements, constraints, strategy, risks and gaining consensus from partners and governance panels.
  • Good technical writing skills, able to document complex designs or concepts both clearly and accurately
  • Ability to consider the ‘big picture’ when making design decisions in terms of breadth of architecture, impacts, transition paths and both short, and long-term goals.
  • A keen interest in technology either at logical or physical level, and a desire to keep up to date with new technologies and tech trends
  • Experience of working on complex logical or physical technical designs in a regulated environment
Desired Experience:

  • Experience working as a Solution Architect, or in another senior analyst or engineering role
  • Expertise in a specific field such as data, security, or infrastructure
  • Risk and financial crime
  • Finance and payments
  • Data provision, or data management
  • Domain knowledge from platform, technology, or business perspective:
  • Digital and Mobile banking
  • Familiarity with Agile methodology and of working as part of an Agile multi-disciplinary team
  • Knowledge of contemporary architecture application approaches (Cloud, microservices, API and event driven architectures)
  • TOGAF qualifications or working towards qualification
