Estio Training have an exciting new opportunity for a Software Tester Apprentice with Pershing Bank of New York Mellon a Financial Services company based in Manchester. Job Description:
Department & Team Overview:
The Business Change Group (BC) is responsible for the oversight and management of all major projects within the firm including:
- Business and Operational re-engineering.
- Regulatory, Legal and Risk projects.
- Business driven IT change.
- Large scale change programmes of work.
Each project is run against a business case and is sponsored at Director / MD level within the organisation. The department has a core team of project managers, business analysts and skilled testers, and supports a business requirement to build efficiencies within our processes, and to professionally manage and deliver internal projects.
Quality Engineering team is part of the Business Change group responsible for functional and non-functional testing of changes and project deliveries.

As an apprentice you’ll:
- Work alongside experienced staff.

You’ll need to be:
- 16 or over.
- Living in England.
- Not in full-time education.
Your duties and responsibilities in this role will consist of:
- Responsible for manual and automated test script development from Business and functional requirements (test scenarios, test cases and auto scripts)
- Responsible for test execution – manual and automated.
- Responsible for raising defects using JIRA, tracking, and retesting post fixes.
- Responsible for test reporting and closures as per Agile and Bank audit standards.
- Attend workshops and participate in as many learning opportunities as possible.
- Assist within the relevant department, but also learning about other aspects of the company.
- Adhere to Company policies, complete all mandatory trainings on time, and meet other required evaluations.
- Attend meetings and offering suggestions for improvement.
- Keep a log of everything learnt.
- Build professional relationships with colleagues and clients.
- Deliver agreed book of work (Development / testing) with high quality output and on time.
Qualifications:
- 5 GCSEs grades A*-C/9-4 or equivalent (including English Language and Maths)
Skills Required:
- Positive attitude, Innovative Thinking, Analytically and Logically strong.
- Comfortable collaborating across multiple teams and working in a fast-paced environment.
- Driven and motivated to succeed.

Technical Skills (Desirable):
- Knowledge in Object Oriented Programming Languages, Databases – Java / .NET SQL/Oracle.
- Knowledge of MS Office tools, JIRA, Selenium.
- Knowledge of Windows based Environment or any.
- Knowledge of Financial Industry.
- Software Programming /Testing experiences if any.

Training to be provided:
Estio apprenticeship training programmes are delivered virtually by our fully qualified and industry experienced training team. Successful completion of this apprenticeship gives you an accredited Level 4 Software Tester, with training in how to:
- Ensure that the software used within your business operates as intended.
- Design and prepare test plans and conduct software testing as appropriate to ensure your software is fit for purpose.
- Collect and interpret the results of testing and make appropriate recommendations.
- Understand the software lifecycle and apply software development practices.
- Document and report test results.
- Store, manage and share test data in a secure manner.
