Software Engineering Intern - 2023/24 / 1 year 'in industry' program

As a Software Engineering Intern, you will work on our core products and services as well as those which support critical functions of our engineering operations. Where you end up working as an Intern depends on your background and experience.
Using your foundation in computer science, you will develop new ideas and gain an in-depth understanding of our products to help continually improve them. We are a collaborative, agile global organization of engineers with the highest levels of quality focus, technical knowledge and programming skills.

Responsibilities
- Research, conceive and develop software applications to extend and improve on Mimecast’s product offering.
- Contribute to a wide variety of projects utilizing natural language processing, artificial intelligence, data compression, machine learning and search technologies.
- Collaborate on scalability involving access to massive amounts of data and information.
- Overcome the challenges presented to you as part of your development.
Essential Skills and Experience:
Minimum qualifications:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelors, Masters or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical / Engineering field with a significant software coding component.
- You have a dedicated year in industry as part of your sandwich degree course
- Preference for students studying a sandwich course with a placement year in industry.
- Experience with one or more general purpose programming languages including but not limited to: Java, C/C++, C#, Objective C, or Python.
- Must have authorization to work in UK.
Preferred qualifications:
- Currently in your penultimate year of study.
- Experience in systems software or algorithms.
- Knowledge of Unix/Linux and APIs.
- Knowledge of TCP/IP and network programming
