Operating within the Siemens Digital Industries Software division, D-Cubed is a world-leading supplier of geometric software components for Computer Aided Design, Manufacturing and Engineering software developers. D-Cubed components lie at the heart of most high-end CAD software, delivering key functionality in areas such as constraint-based parametric sketching, assembly constraints, motion simulation, collision detection and hidden line drawing.

What we’re looking For

We are looking for a Software Engineer summer intern to work alongside a talented team of problem solvers and software developers in one of our development teams. Your degree must contain a high level of technical content preferably within engineering or computer science. The role offers a fantastic opportunity to work on complex software projects in an exciting and varied enterprise environment for industry leading customers.

What you’ll be doing

Reporting to the Software Development Manager you will be working in a small, focused development team. It is expected that the candidate will acquire a broad understanding of our products, their domains, and their application; have the confidence to express ideas as part of a creative software team; have a genuine interest in technological trends; have the ability to meet deadlines; to think creatively about solutions to complex technical problems; and be constantly striving to enhance the team’s results and the quality of the software.

What you’ll bring

  • Knowledge of object-orientated software development
  • An inquisitive and methodical approach with good attention to detail
  • Strong analysis, design and problem-solving ability
  • Enthusiasm for continuous learning
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • The ability to work in 3D
  • Knowledge of software engineering principles and development processes
  • A passion for creating high-quality software

A knowledge of any of the following would be desirable:

  • 3D geometry
  • 3D CAD systems
  • C++ (preferred), C# or Python
