The Role: Big data Software Engineer – Summer Intern
The Location: London, United Kingdom
The Team: Financial Risk Analytics, Aggregation team. An agile development team using bid data technologies to aggregate large amounts of data to calculate credit and market risk measures.
The Impact: The aggregation team develops software to calculate risk measures that allow our clients to manage their exposures.

This role provides an opportunity to work across the full range of products FRA offers. Work as part of a globally distributed business, interacting with product managers and peers across many development streams.
Gain excellent hands-on development experience working as part of a Scala software development team whilst interacting with a wider global team.
Responsibilities:
Be an active and collaborative team member on an agile development team of 4-5 people
Work closely with other developers, for example by pair programming and participating in code reviews
Design, code and/or test enhancements
Contribute to testing of user stories, features, and releases
Troubleshoot and fix bugs
Assist with deployment, infrastructure enhancements, and other dev ops tasks as needed
Assist our customer facing support team in solving client issues, when necessary
Contribute insights and suggestions as part of our continuous improvement
Generally, pitch in wherever needed to help get a high-quality release out on time
What We’re Looking For:
Enrolled in a B.Sc. in software engineering, computer engineering, computer science, or equivalent completing no later than April 2024
Experience writing code in a high-level object-oriented programming language such as Java or C#
Experience writing code in a high-level functional programming language such as Scala or Haskell
UK Eligibility
We’re looking for students in their penultimate year students who are working towards a bachelor’s or master’s degree (or equivalent), and due to complete their studies and be available for a full-time role commencing in 2024.
To be eligible for our summer internship you must have the right to work full-time now and in the future. We currently do not offer visa sponsorship; however, we do run our programs in several locations across the globe and welcome you to consider those that are relevant to you.
