The Ultra Engineering function manages a portfolio of specialist capabilities, generating highly differentiated solutions and products by applying electronic, mechanical, and software technologies in demanding and critical environments to meet customer needs.

The Software Engineering function in Ultra supports the software development lifecycle consisting of requirements analysis, design, implementation, test and verification in order to deliversoftware components into projects and products and supports the deployment and maintenance of software components.A professional at this grade possesses knowledge for specific fields and performs structured work assignments. Uses established procedures to solve problems by making judgments and gets work done with quality under moderate supervision. Has limited discretion to vary from established procedures.Develop EWST’s new 3D viewer capability, using Unity to build a 3D Globe tool that meets both engineering and marketing requirements. The role encompasses numerous tasks in support of the main Unity 3D scene, including UI, 3D modelling, networking and some 3D maths.
A prototype system exists that solves a number of key problem areas in maths, maps and networking, this needs advancing into a deliverable and installable product.
A substantial amount of UI elements are required to control the viewer and allow interactions with entities within the viewer.
3D models exist for elements to be placed in the environment, requiring consistent handling of textures, orientation and scale. Geometry is also created programatically.
JSON networking (currently Newtonsoft) handling incoming data requires expanding to additional elements.
This role has been assessed as Outside IR35.
