What you'll do
  • Develop Back-end web applications using Java and Spring.
  • Unit, Functional and Performance test code for robustness including edge cases, usability and general reliability.
  • Be part of a self-organising and multi-functional agile team.
  • Use standard methodologies such as Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery etc.
  • Write resilient code that will be continuously tested, deployed and will perform at scale.
  • Contribute to the teams technical direction, tools and processes.
  • Ensure the web app is highly performant, resilient and secure, well maintained and monitored in production
  • Assist in the maintenance and support of the AWS infrastructure, Postgresql Database and Object Caching layers
  • Strive for continuous improvement – be able to improve existing practices and techniques from within the team with enthusiasm
  • As part of your role we expect you to be part of our on-call support rota once we deem you have sufficient knowledge. In line with many leading companies, we believe in the ethos that our technology teams support their own products.
What you'll bring
  • 5 years minimum experience in Back-end Java/ Spring web app development including exposure to Content Management and Content Distribution Networks.
  • Good experience with REST APIs
  • Knowledge of Unix/Linux and scripting languages (Bash, etc.)
  • Experience in following development best practices including code quality, application architecture & design principles with the conviction to make your voice heard when pushing for technical excellence
  • Accomplished in Back-end testing particularly unit & functional testing.
  • Some experience in CI tooling (Jenkins/Concourse), working on legacy browser engines/TV devices & consoles, web build tools (e.g. webpack), security, performance optimisations & GraphQl is preferred but not essential.
  • Good analytical skills & attention to detail, applicable across software design, requirement development & PR reviews
  • Standout colleague attitude, knowledge sharing & mentoring are valued within our teams
  • Superb communication skills both within own team & wider company and with both technical & non-technical partners
  • Fast learner, and adaptable to change.
