Role Details – Senior Software Engineer
We are currently looking for an experienced Senior Software Engineer to join a multinational defence company based in Cowes on a permanent position.
The Senior Software Engineer will work in a team that supports the development and maintenance of a software that is part of critical solutions based in UK and other countries. You will report to the Software Team Lead and work closely with the Project Software Team.

- Analyse software requirements, create software design updates to support software implementation, ensuring that the overall system will behave according to its requirements.
- Write software according to coding standards and maintain existing software by investigating issues and identifying pragmatic solutions.
- Document appropriate information, be able to translate technical information to non-technical users and make sure everyone understands the software and the system.
- Liaise with other team members, teams and customers to ensure key information is understood.
Key skills required of the Senior Software Engineer
- Structured Software Design experience, using formal methods.
- Experience of UML or similarly high-level design methodology.
- Extensive knowledge of programming languages C and/or Ada.
- Excellent software coding, integration, and testing skills, ideally with a real time, multi-processor focus.
- Good knowledge and experience with COTS hardware, device drivers and interface standards, including Ethernet, VME.
- Experience of configuration control systems.
