Job Description
Java Software Engineer – ECP
Location: London based with flexibility to work from home 2-3 days per week
Salary & Benefits: £61,176.00 - £87,483.00 GBP base salary, plus annual personal bonus, 15% employer pension contribution (when you put in 6%), private medical insurance, 30 days holiday plus bank holidays.
We also offer flexible working hours, agile working practices and regular home working.

About the team
This role is based in our Economic Crime Prevention Platform, where you will be working within one of our impactful feature teams. We follow an agile methodology, operating in sprints to deliver best in class solutions to prevent Fraud.

We’re looking to recruit a Java Engineer who will support the development and delivery of our Java based Springboot Microservices. You'll be working within a Software Engineering team embedded into the Lab of multidisciplinary staff, to create the best outcomes for our 30 million customers.
You will be empowered to support the design and development of solutions that face into the constantly evolving needs of our customers and collaborate with others to make them a reality.
Here’s how you’ll make a difference:
- You’ll produce high quality, well-tested and robust code using Java.
- You’ll support the maintenance & improvement of existing software, as well as the development of API’s and Microservices.
- You’ll support the identification of opportunities to automate and simplify so we can deliver better quality products for our customers.
- You’ll play a part in our Agile engineering practices & ceremonies.
- You’ll support our transition to cloud technologies.
- Security is at the heart of everything we do at LBG and our Engineers contribute to building a secure culture. It’ll feature as a key part of your role - having a secure approach to provide strong and resilient business solutions that safeguard our business and customers from security threats.
What we need from you:
- You’ll have a Software Engineering background with commercial experience operating as an experienced developer, having focused on Java as your main coding language over recent years.
- You’ll have medium to high skill coding in Java.
- You’ll have medium to high skill developing Springboot Microservices.
- You’ll have good all-around knowledge of the software development lifecycle within a modern Agile engineering environment, familiar with Agile ceremonies & practices.
- You’ll have excellent communication & teamwork skills.
What will be desirable:
- Experience with cloud technologies, in particular Openshift and Google Cloud Platform.
- Experience of using DevOps practices and being hands on with the implementation of CI/CD pipelines.
