Job Description Summary
Will use their strong knowledge and expertise in a variety of methodologies and toolsets to assist with designing, building and unit testing code to deliver products that are fit for purpose and meet the quality standards that our customers expect. Working in one of our cross-disciplinary teams engineers will have the opportunity to develop their technical knowledge and understanding as well develop, practice and demonstrate the workplace skills and behaviours required for this job role. They will also join and attend Communities of Practice, Engineering Guilds and Working Groups to deliver peer-to-peer mentoring.

As the world moves into an ever increasing realtime dynamic, its key our fraud and financial crime defences can also provide world class decisioning in realtime too. The Transaction Lab overseas our key risk decision engines, with an overarching goal to brink data lead realtime decisioning across the ECP estate. The Lab also manages our transaction level Detect, Respond and Decide capability.

We’re looking to recruit a Java Engineer who will support the development and delivery of our Java based Springboot Microservices. You will work within a Software Engineering team embedded into the Lab of multidisciplinary staff, to create the best outcomes for our 30 million customers.
You will be empowered to support the design and development of solutions that face into the constantly evolving needs of our customers and collaborate with others to make them a reality.
Here’s how you’ll make a difference:
You’ll produce high quality, well-tested and robust code using Java.- You’ll support the maintenance & improvement of existing software, as well as the development of API’s and Microservices.
- You’ll support the identification of opportunities to automate and simplify so we can deliver better quality products for our customers.
- You’ll play a part in our Agile engineering practices & ceremonies.
- You’ll support our transition to cloud technologies.
- Security is at the heart of everything we do at LBG and our Engineers contribute to building a secure culture. It’ll feature as a key part of your role - having a secure mindset to provide strong and resilient business solutions that safeguard our business and customers from security threats.
Role criteria:
- You’ll have a Software Engineering background; either a degree or course followed by some commercial experience, or we usually find these roles that suit people with up to 5 years pure commercial experience with no prior degree.
- You’ll be able to code in Java.
- You’ll ideally have exposure to Springboot Microservices or API’s although this isn’t mandatory as we can teach this as long as your Java skills are to a suitable level.
- You’ll have all-around knowledge of the software development lifecycle, ideally within a modern Agile engineering function.
- You’ll have good communication & teamwork skills
