Where does the role sit within Lloyds Banking Group?
Lloyds Banking Group are redefining the way we do Engineering. We’ve created “LBG Labs” and we're building multi-functional, co-located teams giving them freedom to bring technology to the forefront of our business. This will create new, and improve existing, products and services to help us really make a difference to our customers.
Insurance, Pensions & Investments Transformation is the division you would sit within the Financial Planning & Retirement Value Stream, which has ambitious plans to significantly grow our engineering teams.
Our IP&I Labs are focused on improving support to our customers throughout their financial lives, with clear, straightforward customer journeys, helping empower them to make the right decisions on their long-term Saving, Investment & Retirement needs.
About the role:
The role will require you to utilise your skills to build new digital features whilst transforming the application architecture to be micro-services based. As a strong advocate for driving engineering excellence you’ll work collaboratively with other team members, partners and third parties to build empowered teams who are motivated to solve business problems and realise value to customers.
So what are we looking for in you?
  • Broad and deep technical experience with a passion for engineering excellence
  • You'll lead, direct and shape approaches to solving technical challenges and translating business requirements into technical solutions.
  • You're a dynamic and adaptable individual, able to use and learn new skills in varying circumstances.
  • You'll be curious about technology and understanding how things work.
  • As a leader and motivator you'll nurture team members to create a robust team culture.
  • And you'll influence positively - demonstrating the right values and behaviours and encouraging this in team members.
We'll be specifically looking for these skills on your CV:
  • Solid understanding of the entire software development lifecycle and experience in end to end delivery of software products.
  • Extensive experience with agile development methods & tooling e.g. Scrum, Kanban, Jira & Confluence, and experience of leading & working as part of an agile team
  • Strong software development background essential, along with knowledge of modern software development toolsets including Cloud hosting, Containers, Kubernetes, Web App development, API’s, DevOps Continuous Integration and Delivery.
  • You'll have an understanding of the entire application stack, deep and broad knowledge, and significant exposure to modern web technologies, especially Node.js and react.js as well as, ideally, SQL / Nosql, Docker, RESTful APIs and web services.
  • Extensive experience with multiple unit/integration frameworks such as jest.
  • Good knowledge of UI automated testing frameworks such as webdriver and ideally cypress.
