Software Engineer
Lloyds Banking Group
Location: Edinburgh. Hybrid working arrangements, (currently 2 days per week in the office and the rest from home)

Our team
We're looking to recruit a Lead Software Engineer to work in our BACS & Clearings team in the Domestic Payments Lab.
We are responsible for over 4bn UK electronic Payments including Faster Payments, Cheque Clearing, BACS, Cash distribution and more. The changes we deliver must work first time, every time, 24 hours per day 7 days per week with a budget of over £40m. The team works closely with industry groups and regulators to protect the UK, the Bank and customers.

Core purpose of the role
As a Senior Software Engineer you will help drive strategy of a complex group of Z/OS Mainframe applications. You will also define and monitor quality standards for what and how we do things within the team. You will also help colleagues improve their own knowledge and skills by coaching and mentoring them.

What you’ll be involved in:
- You will be able to communicate and advise Business and Architecture teams and liaise with other technical platforms for both development and support.
- You will participate in meetings with the business and industry, regulators, internal and external auditors and be knowledgeable of the banks processes.
- Working with our Enterprise Architecture area, you will be shaping the strategy, and defining the technical solutions for Bacs payments applications that are critical to support our customers and the bank.
Essential skills and experience:
- Software Engineering background with Banking & Payments (BACS) experience operating as a Z/OS Mainframe developer and analyst.
- Knowledge of Z/OS language skills set; COBOL, JCL, PL/1, IM2 and DB2.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Knowledge of the SDLC within both an Agile and Waterfall engineering environment.
Desirable Skills and experience:
- Assembler, REXX and Ice-tool.
- Experience with Windows based applications.
- Experience with GitHub, Jenkins, PowerShell and DevOps practices.
