The LEGO Group is looking for JavaScript Engineers to work on the LEGO.com technology platform as part of our Marketing & Engagement Technology team based in London.
You will be committed to one of the dedicated squads within the LEGO Group, working alongside a dedicated and diverse team of software engineers as well as working with Principal Engineers and Engineering Leadership on solving some of our largest and most complex problems.
Core Responsibilities
Collaborate with Product Owners, UX designers and other Application Engineers to deliver both new functionality and iterative improvements to LEGO.com & other backend services.
- Build efficient and reusable services on the Amazon Web Services stack using JavaScript - Node.js / GraphQL / Lambda / AWS serverless stack)
- Participate in code reviews with other engineers
- Focus on sharing knowledge with other engineers
Identify and resolve scalability and performance issues

Working closely with product owners, architects and engineering managers, our Application Engineers are a vital part of the LEGO.com engineering team. We have implemented a modern front-end stack based around Next.js, React and GraphQL with a cloud-native AWS serverless back-end and we use the platform to design, build and operate LEGO.com.
Our engineers work in interdisciplinary squads each arranged around clear product goals with responsibility for delivery of their own product roadmaps.
You’ll spend your time working in our Marketing and Engagement team focusing on delivering new martech solutions for the LEGO Group that allows business functions to be self-served where possible, providing greater value and experiences to our customers.
Do you have what it takes?
- Detailed knowledge and commercial experience working with microservices - our event-based services layer utilises Node.js and the Serverless Framework and is built mainly on the AWS Serverless stack – Lambda, API Gateway, SQS, SNS, Kinesis and DynamoDB
- Detailed knowledge and working experience of JavaScript, APIs and Markup
- Experience with GraphQL server and client functionality is preferred
- Commercial experience working with modern JavaScript-focused front-end frameworks and technologies – Node.js, Next.js framework, React and associated libraries and tooling including GraphQL (Apollo), Webpack, Babel and Jest
- Experience of working with modern CI/CD and engineering tooling is preferred – we leverage Amazon Web Services, CircleCI, GitHub Actions and Terraform extensively
- Must be attentive to detail, flexible and able to work concurrently on multiple projects
- Ability to troubleshoot, research, and work through complex problems
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
