Job Description
As the Head of Software Engineering for IAG Central Technology, you will work with your peer Heads of Engineering to foster a vibrant engineering community across the Group; help maximise the effectiveness of software engineering through a culture of shared learning and re-use; and establish and demonstrate a consistently high standard of engineering across all the teams in Central Technology. This Central Technology footprint encompasses Infrastructure and Operations; Cyber; Software Engineering and Delivery; Group CTO (Tech Office); and the Office of the CIO.
Major delivery initiatives in scope include: Group identity and access management; upgrades to ServiceNow and Group asset registers such as CMDB; the Group Data Platform underpinning data science activity and machine-learning across the Group; Cloud Centre of Excellence; Business Automation Services (includes RPA and BPM); Software Engineering Tooling; Group Collaboration Platforms; network and infrastructure upgrades; airside and colleague device rollouts and refreshes; telephony system upgrades; and cloud migration of device management.
You will also product manage all the Group’s shared software engineering tools, and drive additional value in the various OpCos through continuous product development of these tools.
Qualifications
Good experience of product management and track record of successfully increasing product adoption and internal customer satisfaction within a large enterprise
Strong technical understanding of AWS and technologies, 3rd party products and broader market for CICD, observability and security within a software engineering ecosystem
Significant experience and a proven track record within a software engineering leadership role in a large organisation featuring mixed model (Agile and Waterfall) delivery
Versed in both cloud-based and on-premise development and experience of working in hybrid cloud models
Demonstrable experience setting up, optimising, operating and evidencing the performance of SDLC tools chains which feature high levels of automation
Extensive knowledge of industry best practice and tooling
Good connections with the software tooling supplier ecosystem
(Desirable) experience of value stream mapping, journey mapping, systems thinking and service design
