Why we’re hiring a Software Engineer? We are hiring a Software Engineer as we continue to grow and develop as an organisation, this is a brand-new position. In this role you will report into the VP of Product Development with open and direct lines of communication at all times. The Software Engineer is responsible for assisting the Technical Innovation and Support team in the development of the platforms and services within the In Silico & Translational Science Solutions group through architecting and implementing data processing and analysis pipelines.

We have over fifteen products in our portfolio, used by over 700 pharmaceutical clients (including all the top 20!)

What are you responsible for?
o Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, etc.
o Build infrastructure required for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from a wide variety of data sources.
o Deploy sophisticated analytics programs, machine learning and statistical methods. Exploit existing technologies and frameworks in the domains of data analysis and visualization.
o Work with stakeholders to assist with and troubleshoot data-related technical issues and support their data infrastructure needs.
o Keep up with industry trends and best practices, advising senior management on new and improved data engineering strategies that will drive departmental performance leading to improvement in overall improvement.
o Liaise with colleagues across the business to elaborate requirements for new data products and translate these into technical plans.
o Adherence to our Quality Management System (QMS) to ensure all work is handled securely, professionally and diligently.
Skills you’ll need:
o A strong level of experience with database languages including SQL, and one or more of: Java, Python, C.
o Experience of bash and linux systems / Git.
o Background in a scientific discipline, ideally Chemistry and/or Biology.
o Experience using version control.
o Desirable: experience in machine-learning/natural language processing and/or data visualization frameworks
o Experience developing web applications using JavaScript-based front-end frameworks and experience with REST APIs
