The Opportunity


Gentrack are currently hiring a new Tech Lead for the UK.


As a Software Engineer you will be expected to support the development of quality Gentrack products by actively contributing and collaborating with team members and other developers across teams. Operating within best coding practice is essential to this role, as is a team mind-set.


Your success in this role will be reflected by:


  • Ability to take on mainstream tasks within the scrum team and to proactively acquire the product and technical knowledge necessary to deliver your contributions.
  • Active participation in all aspects of Agile software development. Including:
    • Punctual and reliable attendance at all team meetings including daily stand ups.
    • Clear communication of what you have done since the last stand up and what you are planning today.
    • Clear communication to your team about any obstacles or blockers.
    • Regular input/contribution is provided at task planning sessions.
    • Task planning activities fit well to the actual work required to complete a story; i.e. individual activity is in line with the task board.
    • Active involvement in grooming of the backlog.
    • Emphasis on the importance of team play, made evident by interactions with team members and the wider company with positive relationships as a result.
  • The successful delivery of software from your team to customers
  • Feedback on the quality and quantity of your technical outputs from your team, technical reviewers, Leads and Managers.


The skills and success factors:


  • Good breadth of experience as a Full-stack T-shaped Software Engineer developing commercial software using TypeScript/Javascript. (Or, you have solid professional experience developing in other OOP languages, i.e. Java, and you are willing to convert to full-stack TypeScript).
  • Solid exposure to with React and Node.
  • Good working knowledge of relevant technologies and concepts including Object Orientated Design
  • Experience working in cloud-native environments, preferably AWS, Serverless applications and AWS CDK (but not necessarily).
  • You enjoy collaborating with others to solve problems and working together to build quality solutions and deliver on time.
  • You are passionate for quality and are always looking for an opportunity to own automation of infrastructure, build, tests and operational tasks.
  • You have an agile mindset, where you work in sprints to continuously deliver value.
  • You have experience working with relational and non-relational databases.
  • You enjoy working with a remote team.
  • You have a passion for personal growth and learning.
  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Science, Software Engineering or comparable professional development and commercial experience
