EMR are looking for a passionate and aspiring Software Development Apprentice to join their team. In this role, an apprentice can expect to be working closely with the development team, which will include working with a variety of languages and front-end development.The apprentice will have all-round experience of what the EMR Development IT team support this will then give them the opportunity to understand development roles within IT and help plan their career.

Responsibilities and Deliverables:

  • Exposure to various Languages – HTML, .NET, python, flutter
  • Aim to continuously improve development processes and best practices to use in-house
  • Chance to expand current knowledge and experience using various Web Development tools
  • Testing and debugging
  • Working on new and existing projects with product owners and business stakeholders
  • Front-end development
  • You will be developing and maintaining web applications and services, understanding the requirements and accurately develop the web applications
  • Whilst working within the team, you will be working on numerous projects that encompass our web / desktop / mobile apps
  • The successful Apprentice will assist a close-knit development team that consists of Developers with varying skill-sets
Experience, qualifications, skills and competencies:
This is a development role and the individual will be studying an apprenticeship alongside their day to day duties. The Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours required to meet the apprenticeship standard can be found here, level 4 https://www.instituteforapprenticeships.org/apprenticeship-standards/software-developer-v1-1 - the apprentice will be expected to meet this standard during their time on programme. This apprenticeship has been mapped against the apprentice job requirements and intended final job role for the apprentice.

Entry requirements
  • Candidate must have grade 4(C) in maths and english GCSE
  • Ideally you will have some exposure to web application development experience through school / college or external interests
  • Keen Interest in technology and software - (Software development lifecycle, programming,)
  • Able to work in a team /on your own
  • Good communication over the phone, email and through Microsoft Teams
  • Keep calm when things go wrong and think out of the box to find a solution
Training to be provided

Our Software Apprenticeships enable you and your company to build and test high-quality code across multiple platforms and layers. Apprentices will work as part of larger teams to help drive elements in an overall project.

The Level 4 Software Developer Apprenticeship has been developed to play a significant role in code development for your business.   • SQL / Database design
  • Introduction to Programming Using Java – Opportunity to undertake the Microsoft Technology Associate Exam
  • Key learning outcomes:
  • Write good quality code (logic) with sound syntax
  • Develop effective user interfaces
  • Test code and analyse results to find & correct errors
  • Apply structured techniques to problem-solving, debug code and understand the structure of programs
  • Utilise skills to build, manage and deploy code into enterprise environments
