We are looking for a Software Developer to join our Service data analytics software team who support the submarines enterprise by using in-service data to gain insights through data analytics and software implementation. You will have the opportunity to learn about how Rolls-Royce Submarines supports the Royal Navy submarine fleet, work with a range of stakeholders with different expertise, understand their challenges and support the development team to deliver valuable solutions. Our software development team follows the Agile Scrum framework, and there are opportunities to work on a wide range of different products which have very different applications, giving you exposure to many areas of the business.

What you will be doing:
You will be working in an Agile software development environment as part of a Scrum team that develop ideas and concepts into solutions for our customers. You will contribute towards value driven iterative development and maintenance of applications as part of these solutions.

Applying your knowledge relating to software development to create new, engaging and usable applications. Depending on the application, you may work with graphic artists, data specialists, and other software experts, to create applications that have high standards of usability and desirability by the users.

Developing software solutions that enable engineers, technical experts and Rolls-Royce’s customers to make data-driven insights, leading to improved decision making.

Maintaining software ensuring that the quality and integrity of the customer experience is upheld, by testing and fixing any bugs during the application creation and upkeep process.

Demonstrating your strong creative drive, and understanding of what is required from an application to engage and excite a user community

For the Software Developer to be successful in this role you will have:

Degree level education in Computing, Mathematics, Scientific or Engineering disciplines, or equivalent experience.

Knowledge of standard software development processes. Experience in the following technologies is desirable but not essential: Python, SQL, Vue and/or React.

Experience with Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) in Azure DevOps (or similar) is preferable.

Strong communication skills that will enable you to engage with your scrum team, colleagues, customers and stakeholders.

A proactive, persistent and customer focused mindset with a high level of self-motivation, initiative, and ability to be independent.

An ability to apply logical, analytical and innovative thinking on a range of technical problems.

To work for the Rolls-Royce Submarines Business an individual has to hold a Security Check (SC) clearance without any caveats to that clearance. Rolls-Royce will support the application for Security Clearance if the individual does not currently already have this in place.
Due to the nature of work the Business conducts and the protection of certain assets a person has to be a UK national or in MoD approved cases a Dual National from a non ITAR country.
