Contract: 12 months Fixed-term

Location: Hybrid (Head office: Quorum Business Park, Newcastle upon Tyne)

This is a hybrid working role, you’ll need to be able to work from our Head Office once a quarter

Hours per week: 37

Salary: £18,000 - £19,586 depending on experience

We’re excited to be looking for a Software Developer Intern to join our Software Delivery team.

We are seeking a talented and motivated Software Developer Intern to join our team and gain hands-on experience working on exciting projects in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.


As a Software Developer Intern at NCFE, you'll have the opportunity to work alongside our experienced software development team and contribute to the creation of software solutions that make a difference. This internship is designed to provide you with valuable real-world experience, mentorship, and the chance to apply your knowledge in a professional setting.


How you’ll make an impact:

  • Collaborate with the development team to write, test and maintain code for software applications, features, and enhancements.
  • Assist in troubleshooting and debugging software issues, proposing solutions, and implementing fixes.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies to enhance your skills and contribute innovative ideas to the team.
  • Work closely with cross functional teams, including product managers, designers and quality assurance, to deliver high quality software solutions.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, including code comments and project-related documentation.
  • Participate in code reviews to provide and receive constructive feedback on code quality and best practices.

We’d love to hear from you if you offer the following:

  • Enrolled in a relevant degree program in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of programming languages e.g., Java, Python, C++, JavaScript and software development principles.
  • Familiarity with software development tools, such as integrated development environments (IDEs), version control systems, and debugging tools.
  • Prior internship experience or personal code projects is a plus.
  • Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies and tools.
