What will the apprentice be doing?
With support from the ISD department the apprentice will be undertake and be responsible for the following:
Hardware Support – Installation and maintenance of apps on mobile devices.
Software Support – Provide face to face support for applications developed by the Unipres team.
Software Development – Support the software development team on the development of applications to meet business requirements throughout the entire Manufacturing process which includes:
- order receipt
- resource planning
- logistics
- building and shipping
This includes the development of applications on Android, Windows and Web as well as back end database creation and maintenance. This will be done by learning a variety of programming languages and technologies.
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
The apprentice will be supported by the ISD department in understanding their role and the company alongside becoming a qualified Software Developer - achieving a 'Level 3 Software Development Technician' apprenticeship.
Apprenticeship training will be agreed with the Training Provider (QA Limited) and allocated one day a week to complete their qualification.
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
In the first instance complete a Level 3 Junior Software Developer Technician apprenticeship with a view to continue on to a Level 4 Software Engineer apprenticeship. There is also a possibility of further progress to a degree apprenticeship.
