COMPANY OVERVIEW:
QCMD is an independent International External Quality Assessment (EQA) / Proficiency Testing (PT) organisation. QCMD provides a wide-ranging quality assessment service primarily focused on molecular infectious diseases to over 3000 participants in over 100 countries.
QCMD is dedicated to advancing the quality of molecular diagnostics through External Quality Assessment (EQA), Proficiency Testing (PT) and other supporting quality initiatives.
JOB SUMMARY:
Our EQA programmes have over 3000 participating laboratories worldwide and to support these we develop and run a varied range of bespoke software systems.
This role joins our small team of developers building and supporting software through the entire development lifecycle. The activities will be very varied, spanning the development of small features and bugfixes, to leading the design and development of entirely new projects and systems.
Our technology stack is mainly based around Java and the Play Framework.
The role requires excellent organisational and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with Project Leads and Senior Management. The ability to work on several diverse tasks at the same time whilst managing tight deadlines is essential.
EXPERIENCE:
Knowledge and Skills
- Java
- Relational databases and SQL
- Good understanding of Web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and how they fit together.
- Software Design (OO and other principles)
- Ability to elicit requirements from non-technical domain experts.
- Able to demonstrate track record suited to the role in employment or in own projects.
Education and Experience
- Degree or other suitable qualification with an emphasis on software engineering
Desirable but not essential:
- Other languages especially Scala and Python
- Experience in using the Play Web Development Framework
- Docker
- Biology / Bioinformatics
- Git
- Linux
Salary & benefits
Salary range : From £30,000 dependent on experience
